What was already a wild party that filled the entire neighborhood with cars and drunk teenagers became even more chaotic when shots were fired just past midnight.
It is unclear what the motive happened to be, or if it was anything more than alcohol-fueled rage. Many witnesses claim that a fight broke out between two boys, and one of the boy's friends jumped in as well. What was an isolated fight soon grew into a brawl. Reports are conflicted on whether or not a knife was pulled, with several saying it was and a few saying they did not see a knife.
However, there is no debate as to whether shots were fired. Two teenage boys were injured, including a boy who had gotten a football scholarship to a university. There is speculation as to whether or not gang activity or drugs were involved.
Once again, another incident has begun with a lack of parenting. Society needs to take care of its children, especially here in violence-riddled, drug-addled Bakersfield. If you need more proof, take this boy for example: he claims to be a good Christian boy, but he was at this party. He claims, once at the party, he just "drank until [he] fell down."
