The Violent History of One of Bakersfield's Oldest High Schools

This high school has a very bad reputation. Up until now, I didn't know the specifics of its checkered reputation. But now I have heard the violence that occurs daily on this campus from a security guard that formerly worked there.

There's been two suicides: teens who were "in love" but their strict parents supposedly kept them apart. Instead of heeding their parents' rules, or just dating in secret, they decided to take their own lives simultaneously by taking cyanide pills.

In the library, a boy pulled a knife on a girl and attempted to perform a female circumcision on her (which is much, much worse than a male circumcision).

A pistol was found in the car of a student who was a suspected drug dealer.

Several knives have been pulled, several suicides have been attempted. Now I understand exactly why this high school has such a bad reputation. I wouldn't want anyone I care about attending that school.
