Local HS Math Teacher Brings Politics to the Classroom

Earlier this morning, a local high school math teacher brought up politics in the middle of an algebra lesson. She began railing on former President Bush, mocking his "No Child Left Behind" program. Similar rhetoric has been heard from the science teacher recently as well: the science teacher in question had been complaining of the Republicans' refusal to accept "basic science" including the teachings of evolution and global warming.

It doesn't matter if you are right- or left-leaning. Politics does not belong in the classroom, period. If you bring up your own biased politics where they do not belong, in a setting where impressionable teenagers have to listen to you, that is not teaching. That is indoctrination, no matter what side of the political spectrum it is from.
